Pentagram – It’s OK, It’s All Good

April 29, 2009

I’m loving the new (not quite so new) Pentagram single, Voice. The video for this song coincided with the India wide protests that occurred due to the extension of the reservation quota by the Indian universities. Their video features about 30 of the bands’ friends and fans, who sing the chorus. Have a dekko.

Mumbai Massacre: What now?

December 11, 2008

Ok, so we’ve got one and killed 9. There, allegedly, are still another 20 terrorists who are ‘ready to die’ somewhere in India. Heads have rolled, politically. Tougher screening and checks in place, with solid intel and a whole heap of rumours doing the rounds, suggesting further attacks. Pakistan (at least the political head, among [...]

Radiohead’s Videotape

November 23, 2008

I just came across a friends rendition of Radiohead’s Videotape song. It was something about the way he sung it, or probably the increasing intensity, but something drew me back to the song. I spent about 30 minutes on this video, trying to understand what drew me to it?! And then Thom Yorke’s line hit [...]

Wordpress Upgrade Nightmare

November 11, 2008

After growing impatient with Bluehost not automating the new wordpress upgrade, I went about trying to do this the manual way. I back up (and back that up as well) every thing I ever create on both my computers. But I never got around to doing the same for my blog. Even though its a [...]

Indian Cuisine: As Vast & Varied As India

September 28, 2008

A friend recently sent me this neat map of India showing the varied delicacies across all the states. Have a dekko and check your food knowledge? I hope this gives people an idea of the vastness of the country and the variety of the food available. Its really not all about hot curries, you know… [...]

Had A Car Accident Yesterday

September 24, 2008

Its been a lovely couple of days at work, this week. Been working on a proposal for an adaptive re-use project for an old street corner Victorian house-office. And after a particularly blissful day of work yesterday, I left feeling really good about myself and the progress I’d made. At about 5:30 PM, I came [...]

A Good Night’s Sleep

September 7, 2008

What I’d give for a night of sound sleep?! Its been quite a while now and this sleep depravation actually gets me pretty depressed each time it gets close to bed time. I’m stumped for a solution here. I’ve read up on quite a few articles on the problem and tried to implement the steps [...]

Ralph has a point there…

August 15, 2008

… when he says,
“Guard well your spare moments. They are like uncut diamonds. Discard them and their value will never be known. Improve them and they will become the brightest gems in a useful life”.
Spare moments are pretty sparse for me anyway, but its hard not to “discard” them. It is important to have those [...]

Avial: The Mallu Rock Band

July 1, 2008

My dear friend Vinay sent me a link to the MySpace profile of a Malayalee rock band called Avial. I really haven’t heard any Malayalam music for a while… a long while! And its not like I understand a whole lot of the words either. But there is something about the music, the vocals thats [...]

The Selling Point

May 18, 2008

You tend to come across invaluable lessons on the most profound issues at the most unexpected places. For a weekend post, I wanted to share a couple of amazing videos I had seen a while ago. These videos are taken by a foreign tourist to Mumbai, of a street kid selling peacock feather fans. He’s [...]

Wild Winds

April 3, 2008

It was the winds first, the dust then and then later through the day, the rains. Yep! We had it all yesterday. It was like something straight out of a movie. With winds up to 120-130 km per hour blasting through Melbourne, it left a trail of utter chaos. Bins (with it being bin-day) and [...]
