Hello! Its awesome to see you again. You may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks, again, for visiting!
Ok, so we’ve got one and killed 9. There, allegedly, are still another 20 terrorists who are ‘ready to die’ somewhere in India. Heads have rolled, politically. Tougher screening and checks in place, with solid intel and a whole heap of rumours doing the rounds, suggesting further attacks. Pakistan (at least the political head, among the many it has) seems to be doing the right things. Local people are (seethingly) demanding accountability. And finally seem to be getting results. What happens now?

I wouldn’t really want to get into a “we should have been better prepared” argument now. Enough has already been said. India is now prepared. Or are we? Can we ever be ready for this facet of terror? In our streets, our airports, our stations, hotels, restaurants, schools, hospitals… I’m not to sure about the pre-emt or prevent part, but I sure hope we can “respond” aptly. Urban terror warfare scenarios is now a brutal reality in India. And having an appropriate response team and strategy in place across the country is essential… Or so you’d hope. We need more officers like Julio Ribeiro, whose dedication and battle-readiness has been tested, time and again, and stood true… Or so we’d hope. And now is when India, as one people and nation, needs to remember and not forget. We’ve always had knee-jerk reactions and implemented laws and rules, that would start with a bang (and raise quite a lot of bucks for you know who) and fizzle out with time. Remember helmets, seat-belts, number plates, etc. I’ve always wondered how easily, we could see the troubles of fellow country men as somehow being foreign or separate. And somehow the problem is was always theirs and not ours. Think about it… Oh, its the ‘Sikhs’, the ‘Madarasis’, the ‘Muslims’, the ‘Bhaiyas’ even among Gujaratis; oh its the ‘Banias’, the ‘Patels’ and what have you. Never us as Indians. This ends now… Or so we’d hope.
