My dear friend Vinay sent me a link to the MySpace profile of a Malayalee rock band called Avial. I really haven’t heard any Malayalam music for a while… a long while! And its not like I understand a whole lot of the words either. But there is something about the music, the vocals thats really appealing to me.
Even more than the my Mum’s avial. I highly recommend a listen. Here’s their website… Avial.

The band Avial is from a small town in Kerala but its members are professional musicians who have played in various bands in India and have done tours around the world independently. They came together to create music which does justice to the word Mallu Rock!
While it’s true that the lyrics of many songs featured in the band’s debut album ‘AVIAL’ reflects on a deep sense of eternal timeless awareness, there is a good chance that the global listener relates to the album simply because its musically sound. With elements of Indie rock and folk, embedded in each of the eight songs featured in the first album, Avial has managed to mix to perfection and share with its listeners an altogether unique sound, what the band members calls “alternative Malayali rock”.

@ SimplyMalayalees.com : After spending quite a while listening to them yesterday… I’d say they do absolute justice to the word ‘Rock’! Period! Loved it… Thanks for dropping by too. Cheers!
